durrrr challenge update
May 30, 2010
As you might know, Tom Dwan, aka durrrr from Full Tilt Poker, has set a challenge for all professional poker players back in the first part of 2009. He backed up his initiative with 1.5 million dollars that he would give to the winner. Instead, if he is to win, he gets $500,000 from his opponent. The rules are simple: durrrr and his opponent are to play either No Limit Hold ‘em or Pot Limit Omaha heads up at $200/$400 or higher, and whoever is ahead by the end of 50,000 hands will be declared the winner. Apart from the money that the winner is ahead, the respective amounts will also be added to their account. The first to face up to durrrr’s challenge was Team Full Tilt member Patrik Antonius. Here’s an update on their game so far:
As expected by most, durrrr is ahead at this time, after close to 39,000 hands were dealt. Their first match was held back in early 2009, and their match is still far from being decided. Although Dwan is up by almost $2 million, things can still improve for Antonius, as he proved in their last play session, which took place on the 30th of April. After that session, Antonius won close to half a million dollars. The scoreboard is still pretty tight, with Dwan leading the number of won hands by less than 2,000. But, as we’ve seen, it’s still anybody’s game. Check back for more news about the game soon.
